Software Installation

The procedure is not necessary if the software was installed using the network setup cable.

To use the machine by connecting it to a computer, software including the drivers needs to be copied (installed) to the computers hard disk. The installation process takes about 20 minutes. (The installation time varies depending on the computer environment or the number of application software to be installed.)

IMPORTANT

Quit all running applications before installation.
Log on as the administrator (or a member of the Administrators group).
Do not switch users during the installation process.
Internet connection may be required during the installation. Connection fees may apply. Consult the internet service provider.
It may be necessary to restart your computer during the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions and do not remove the Setup CD-ROM during restart. The installation resumes once your computer has restarted.

If the firewall function of your security software is turned on, a warning message may appear that Canon software is attempting to access the network. If such a warning message appears, set the security software to always allow access.

It is not necessary to connect the machine to the computer with the network setup cable.

Turn on the computer, then insert the Setup CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

If the machine is not detected, Set Up New Printer dialog box is displayed. Refer to the printed manual: Network Setup Troubleshooting. Make sure there is no problem, then click Redetect.

When the Setup Completion screen appears, click Complete or OK.

Click Next.
Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.

- Important Information for the Installation

If the serial number is not displayed on the registration screen, input the number found inside the machine.

IMPORTANT

If the power is on, the FINE Cartridge Holder will move when the Scanning Unit (Cover) (A) is opened.

The User Registration screen will only be displayed when Europe, Middle East, Africa is selected on the Select Your Place of Residence screen.

If the Extended Survey Program screen appears.

If you can agree to Extended Survey Program, click Agree.

Click Exit to complete the installation.

Ink level monitoring is based upon projected levels versus a digital alarm built into each ink cartridge to alert when it has reached 40 percent and 5 percent. Whenever you add new ink cartridges or refill old ones, you must reset the Epsons EEPROM chip, which records all current ink levels and print projects.

Follow the step to Reset the Epson Stylus Color 980 Printer Chip :

Click the "Start" button on your computer to open the Start menu.
Click the "Control Panel" and choose "Classic View" if you are using Windows Vista.
Double-click the "Printers and Faxes" icon. This will open up the Control Panel for all of your active printers. Windows will automatically detect any printer, including the Epson Stylus Color 980, as long as it is plugged into your computer and in the "On" position.

How to Clear the Canon Check Ink 1686 and 1688 Error Messages

The Canon “Check Ink 1686? and “Check Ink 1688? are low ink warnings used by an entire series of inkjet printers that take the PG-540, PG-540XL, CL-541 and CL-541XL ink cartridges. Canons official text used to describe the error states “The ink may have run out” (Check Ink 1686) and “The ink has run out” (Check Ink 1688). Whatever error you are receiving your printer will stop when it believes the cartridge is empty and refuse to print without intervention from you. There is however a way you can carry on printing as we will discuss below…

Why am I getting this message?

If you have just installed a new remanufactured cartridge or have just refilled your own cartridge, you may be surprised to see this error message so quickly. This is due to the fact that these Canon printers have no way of looking inside the cartridge or detecting fresh ink. Instead the cartridge just monitors how many pages have been printed and the average page coverage since it was first installed into a printer. From this information your printer estimates the ink level of the cartridge and when it believes the ink cartridge is running low/empty will present you with the “Check Ink” 1686 or 1688 message. As a result of this way of estimating ink levels, even an original Canon ink cartridge will almost certainly have some ink left when your printer warns you it is empty.

Can I get around this error message?

Indeed you can and it is exceptionally easy. This series of Canon printers allows you to continue printing with a single button press and will usually give this prompt in a fairly sizable message once it detects that the cartridge may be empty. Simply hold down your printers STOP/RESET/RESUME button for five seconds and then release. Whilst the name with which the button is referred to may change, the symbol it is represented with will always remain the same.

As shown above the symbol that represents the RESUME button is an upside-down triangle in a circle. It may be grey, pink or even red in appearance depending upon the model of your printer. Holding down this button for five seconds indicates to your printer that you are aware of this low/empty cartridge estimate but would like to continue printing regardless. From here the ink level will still read as being low, but you can continue printing with this cartridge until the ink physically runs out and the quality of the prints deteriorates as a result.

Is there any risk in doing this?

None at all. The continued use of any physically empty cartridge can result in the printhead of the cartridge burning out. However as long as you keep an eye on the print quality produced by the cartridge you can negate the risk of potential damage, leaving you free to refill or recycle the empty cartridge as you see fit. In the worst case scenario that you don’t notice the ink having run out and end up burning out your printhead, you can simply replace the cartridge for a new one with no damage having been sustained by your printer.

You can troubleshoot any problems you experience with the Epson Stylus 980 by using the software that was included with the printer.

Follow the instruction below :

Press the power button on the Epson Stylus 980 printer and unplug the computer interface cable from the back of the printer. Disconnect the power cable and wait 10 seconds. Reconnect both cables and power the printer back on.
Navigate to the Epson 980 driver downloads website (see Resources). Click the "Printer Driver" link that corresponds to the operating system on your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions to download the latest software driver.
Attempt to print a document again to see if the Epson printer is working. Check to see if the document has missing dots or the ink is lighter than it should be. Open the Epson software you installed when you setup the printer.
Click "Printer Settings" and then navigate to the "Utility" tab. Click "Head Cleaning" and wait for the Epson Stylus 980 to finish automatically cleaning its print heads.
Print another document and check to see if the alignment of the text or image is off center. Return to the "Utility" tab in the Epson softwares window. Click "Print Head Alignment" and then click "OK."
Attempt to print another document. Check to see if all of the indicator lights on the printer flash together repeatedly. Contact Epson support if all of the lights are flashing together as your printer has suffered a mechanical failure that will require a repair or replacement.

And no wonder why his domain is that slow. Probably too many Paypal/Payza exchanges behind the scene. And no wonder too, why Google kicked his websites behind. And no wonder he is called Titan, named after the Greek gods who like to eat "cendol".

Weve managed to read some of Titans articles but sadly, because during our reading time frame, we were on a Malaysian dongle (so slow but yet so far). At least we manage to read through some of his newest articles, especially a three (3) part Eyriqazz vs Denaihati series, for the Google Malaysia Search Engine Battle Challenge 2012 brought to you by Eyriqazz.Com. A slow as Titans website can be, it was good thing that the fonts came out first, so we had the time to read through what he was actually wanted say.

And theirs even a blog named after the contest, Eyriqazz vs Denaihati who is slowly yet steadily crawling to the front. We are not sure, that the named blog, is one of the organisers crony, or share partners but we know this, the Otais confirmed putting up their game faces, as yesterday Wikileaks provided an exclusive image on a plot to shove off the leaders and top spot makers. (view image here) And you can see, there was a few tweak-ings and G Pluses where blogger-prenuette yanmieonline.com took the No.1, for just a few hours before CikTom took it back near midnight.(and you probably know who was behing yanmieonline) And most of the otais blogger have also tweakked like it was never before.
