How to perform the wireless LAN setup using WPS connection Windows
Make sure that the computer and access point or router are connected.

After confirming the connection, perform the following instructions to add (connect) the machine to the network.

- Notes on Wireless Connection
- The configuration, router functions, setup procedures and security settings of the network device vary depending on your system environment. For details, refer to your device?s instruction manual or contact its manufacturer.

- If you connect to a network that is not protected with security measures, there is a risk of disclosing data such as your personal information to a third party.

When using a router, connect the machine and computer to the LAN side (same network segment).
Wireless Setup Using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)
REFERENCE
For details on WPS, refer to the manual of your access point.
Use the Menu button (A) to select Device settings.
Select WLAN active/inactive, then press the OK button.
Select Wireless LAN active, then press the OK button.
When wireless connection is enabled, the Wi-Fi lamp (C) lights blue.
Select Wireless LAN setup, then press the OK button.
Select WPS, then press the OK button.
Use the Menu button (A) to select Device settings.
Select WLAN active/inactive, then press the OK button.
Select Wireless LAN active, then press the OK button.
When wireless connection is enabled, the Wi-Fi lamp (C) lights blue.
Select Wireless LAN setup, then press the OK button.
Select WPS, then press the OK button.
Select Push button method, then press the OK button.
- To use the PIN code method for setup
Select PIN code method in 7, then press the OK button. Follow the on-screen instructions to operate the machine and access point. When the screen in 9 appears, press the OK button.
Press and hold the WPS button on the access point (for about 5 seconds), then press the OK button on the machine within 2 minutes.
For details on the WPS button pressing, refer to the manual of your access point.
The Wi-Fi lamp (blue) on the machine flashes while searching for or connecting toan access point.
When the above screen appears, press the OK button.
Select PIN code method in 7, then press the OK button. Follow the on-screen instructions to operate the machine and access point. When the screen in 9 appears, press the OK button.

IMPORTANT
- If the timeout error screen appears, press the OK button, then start over from 8.

Software Installation
Software Installation
The procedure is not necessary if the software was installed using the network setup cable.
To use the machine by connecting it to a computer, software including the drivers needs to be copied (installed) to the computers hard disk. The installation process takes about 20 minutes. (The installation time varies depending on the computer environment or the number of application software to be installed.)
IMPORTANT
- Quit all running applications before installation.
- Log on as the administrator (or a member of the Administrators group).
- Do not switch users during the installation process.
- Internet connection may be required during the installation. Connection fees may apply. Consult the internet service provider.
- It may be necessary to restart your computer during the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions and do not remove the Setup CD-ROM during restart. The installation resumes once your computer has restarted.
If the firewall function of your security software is turned on, a warning message may appear that Canon software is attempting to access the network. If such a warning message appears, set the security software to always allow access.

It is not necessary to connect the machine to the computer with the network setup cable.

If the Printer Connection screen appears instead of the screen above, the connection method is not correctly selected in 8.
Click Cancel and start again from 6, then be sure to select Use the printer with wireless LAN connection in 8.
Make sure that any of the lamps on the mode buttons (A) lights, then click OK.
When the Detected Printers List dialog box appears, select Canon MX410 series, then click Next.

If the machine is not detected, Set Up New Printer dialog box is displayed. Refer to the printed manual: Network Setup Troubleshooting. Make sure there is no problem, then click Redetect.

- Important Information for the Installation
If the serial number is not displayed on the registration screen, input the number found inside the machine.
IMPORTANT
If the power is on, the FINE Cartridge Holder will move when the Scanning Unit (Cover) (A) is opened.

Click Exit to complete the installation.

Things you will need are...
Windows XP CD-ROM
Drivers and Utilities CD *If Needed.
*Some computers dont need a Drivers and Utility CD ROM, for Sound and Network Drivers, because you might have a separate for backup or driver support.
Put the Windows XP CD-ROM into your "default CD-ROM Drive".
Restart Windows. When prompted, there will be a choice on the Top Right hand corner of the screen. Press Any Key to boot from CD-ROM...
You Might need to change the drive configuration - SATA to IDE.
If you have a laptop, The Windows XP Disk will not work in most cases, because you have a SATA drive.
How to get arround the SATA Hard Drive Configuration.
1. When the computer loads up, hit F2 to access the setup menu for the computer.
2. Find where it says Hard Drive Configuration, Change it from SATA to IDE.
3. Save Settings and Exit.
4. Restart...

For Microsoft Windows XP, 2000
1. Open control Panel
2. click Network Connection
3. Right click on Local Connection Properties then select Properties
4. on General Tab select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) then click Properties

5. Click "Use the Following DNS server addresses"
6. Change your DNS Server addresses to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 and click OK.
For Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 7
1. Open Control Panel2. Network and Sharing Center
3. Click on Change adapter Setting
4. Right Click on Local Area Connection then select Properties

5. Scroll and double click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPVv4)

Preferred DNS Server: 208.67.222.222
Alternate DNS server: 208.67.220.220
For EASY SETUP you can use the COMMAND prompt:

Configure PPTP VPN in Windows 7
- From Windows 7 Desktop, click Start Control Panel to open the control panel;
- Click Network and Internet;
- Click Network and Sharing Center;
- Click Set up a new connection or network, then Connect to a workplace;
- Select option No, create a new cnonection, then Use my Internet connection (VPN);
- In the Connect to a workplace window, fill VPN Server hostname with IP found from website;
- In Next window, use freevpnaccess.com as User name field, and use password found from website in the Password field;
- Click Connect button to start the free VPN connection in your Windows 7 Desktop.
Configure Free PPTP VPN in Windows 8

Configure Free PPTP VPN in Apple iOS Devices
- From iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, Press iPhone, iPod touch or iPads Home button;
- Touch Settings icon, select VPN Add VPN Configuration
- Select PPTP, adding fields as:

RSA SecurID: OFF
Password: check vpn website
Encryption level: Auto
Send All traffic: ON
- Touch save button to save the VPN configuration;
- Slide the VPN status button from OFF to ON position, wait until VPN connected.

- From Andord smartphones, tablets, or set tp boxes, switch back to Home screen;
- Touch Settings icon, touch More VPN text bar;
- Touch + button to add a new VPN profile, and fill the VPN fields as below:
- Set Name as FreeVPNAccess.COM;
- Set Type as PPTP;
- Set Server address as the IP found from website;
- Checked PPP encryption (MPPE) option;
- Touch Save button to save the VPN connection;
- Touch FreeVPNAccess.COM text bar to connect the VPN, Android will prompt the username/password information;
- Enter freevpnaccess.com as the VPN username, and enter the password found from our website as the VPN password;
- Touch Connect button to start the VPN connection, wait until VPN is connected.

- From Windows XP desktop, click Start Control Panel to open the control panel;

- Click Next button to get the first New Connection Wizard Welcome window;

- Enter VPN Server hostname with IP found from website, click Next;
- Click Finish button.
